Tubular Spiral Window Balances |
How to Order Tilt Tubular Spiral Window Balances: Tubular spiral window balances for non-tilt type windows comes in the most commonly used lengths and diameters: 3/8" and 9/16" (9/16" is commonly referred to as 5/8" in the industry). Any balance will replace either a metal or plastic tube balance, and many come in Standard and Heavy Duty variations. Most spiral balances have colored nylon bushings that indicate the load capacity of the balance - White indicates a maximum load of 12 lbs, Red indicates a maximum load of 25 lbs, and Blue indicated a maximum load of 35 lbs. Standard Duty balances replace balances with White or Red nylon bushings, while Heavy duty balances replace balances with Blue nylon bushings. While all Tubular Spiral Balances for Tilt and Non-Tilt Windows are packaged and sold individually, we strongly recommend replacing all balances in a window at the same time. 1.) To select the correct spiral balance, measure the diameter of the tube on your old balance: 3/8" Diameter - 83 Series (Metal Tube), 83-P Series (White, Black, or Gray Plastic Tube) 9/16" Diameter - 85 Series (Metal Tube), 85-P Series (White, Black, or Gray Plastic Tube), 85Z Series (Pre-Tensioned) See the charts listed below for your particular series. 2.) Measure the length of the tube itself - do not include the bushing or rods. 3.) Check the color of your bushing (also known as bearings) - for Red or White bushings, select Standard Duty balances; for Blue bushings, select Heavy Duty balances - and match the bushing color to that listed on the chart. Some balances have more colors than the standard Red, White, and Blue bushings. See charts for particulars.. 4.) Verify that the rod extension that protrudes from the bushing matches the illustration shown. 5.) Place your order online or by calling TechnologyLK at 888-663-9830.
