Low Odor, Non-Acetic Cure Formula
Excellent Adhesion to Most Surfaces
Easy Gunnability and Tooling
20 Year Limited Warranty and AAMA Approved
This CRL RTV408 Silicone is a neutral cure, medium modulus silicone sealant that cures to a tough, flexible rubber when exposed to moisture. CRL RTV408 features primerless adhesion to: aluminum, stainless steel, chromium, and tin, iron, plastics, rigid PVC, phenolic resin, glass, ceramic and most reflective-coated glasses. Its fast cure time and easy tooling make it ideal for many in-house production applications. It is non-corrosive to most building materials such as glass (including insulating glass), tiles, and sanitary equipment.
It is also used in vehicles, ships, aircraft, as well as for electrical insulation. CRL RTV408 does not cause corrosion in contact with metals. It is suitable for alkaline materials such as mortar and cement, and other applications where metal corrosion could be a problem.
CRL RTV408 stays flexible and is resistant to cracking or becoming brittle in a wide range of temperatures approximately -65 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (-54 to 204 degrees Celsius). It can be applied at outdoor temperatures as low as -20°F (-29°C), provided that surfaces are clean, dry and frost-free or on surfaces as high as 100°F (38°C).
In order to help you better select the correct sealant, we have put together a Silicone and Sealant Selector Chart
Color: Black
Contents of Cartridge: 10.3 fl oz (305 ml)
All CRL Silicone Sealant cartridges are packed with innovative Screw-On Nozzles, offering you a greater yield per tube. They are four inches (ten centimeters) long, and tapered so you can trim the nozzle to exactly the bead size you need.
Technical Data: Meets or exceeds the following Federal Specifications:
TT-S-001543A (COM-NBS) Class A, for silicone building sealants; TT-S-00230C (COM-NBS) Class A, Non-sag for one-component sealants; ASTM C-920 standard specification for elastomeric joint sealant as Type S, Grade NS, Class 25, Use NT, G, A and O; CAN/CGSB 19.13-M87; AAMA 802.3-92 Type 1, 802.3-92 Type 2, 805.2-94 and 808.3-92.
RTV408W and RTV408T contain a fungicide and the cured sealant is mildew resistant.

Important Note:
Not recommended for concrete and stone expansion joints; horizontal decks, patios, driveway or terrace joints where abrasion or physical abuse is encountered; sealing submerged joints, particularly where porous surfaces permit water infiltration to the bond surface; interior or exterior structural sealing below the waterline in marine applications; structural glazing; food contact or potable water applications. CRL RTV408 cannot be painted as painting over silicone sealant is generally not successful. Paint film does not stretch with extension of the sealant, and adhesion of paint to the sealant is not adequate. Extensive material testing has shown that the following substrates must be tested for good adhesion, and that a primer may be required: plastics, flexible PVC, acrylic resin, natural stone, concrete and wood. Neutral cure sealant cure byproducts may cause stress cracking or surface crazing of polycarbonate sheet under certain conditions. Test in application before use. Check cartridge label and Specification Data Sheet for additional limitations.
